Jeremy Story
Jeremy Story is an experienced communications professional who owns partnerships in the public relations firms Story + Welch and Digital Idea Media. He has spent more than a decade developing and executing high-profile communications campaigns for organizations ranging from the Fortune-100 to private start-ups, and his work has been recognized with a number of awards including the public relations industry’s highest honor, the PRSA Silver Anvil.
Prior to co-founding Story + Welch and Digital Idea Media, Mr. Story was a vice president at the Denver-based public relations firm LeGrand Hart. Mr. Story established the boutique firm’s Corporate Practice, and helped land new clients ranging from Chevron Mining to EnCana.
Mr. Story joined LeGrand Hart from StorageTek/Sun Microsystems, where he was director of Corporate Communications.While with StorageTek, he led the company’s internal and external communications strategy during its $4.1 billion acquisition by Sun and managed an 11-member team responsible for corporate communications, media relations, industry analyst relations, community affairs and government relations.
Prior to Sun/StorageTek, Mr. Story served as a vice president in the Denver office of Weber Shandwick, where he was responsible for a 14-person agency team (and $1.6 million annual budget) for Fortune-80 benefits provider CIGNA Corp. In 2003, Mr. Story’s team and CIGNA were awarded the PRSA Silver Anvil for their multi-divisional public-relations campaign that markedly improved perceptions of the company among customers, analysts and policymakers. Mr. Story also supported specific campaigns for Weber Shandwick clients such as ExxonMobil, Sprint, FedExKinko’s and American Airlines.
Mr. Story also spent several years in Silicon Valley as director of Corporate Communications at Ishoni Networks, a private semiconductor-and-software firm that was acquired by Philips Electronics. He managed the start-up company’s $1.8 million annual marketing communications budget, and was responsible for all of its communications activities, including public relations, branding, advertising, trade shows, collateral and Web development.
Prior to Ishoni Networks, Mr. Story spent five years at Fortune-120 telecom company US West, ultimately as director of Public Relations. He was responsible for the public relations and public affairs/regulatory activities of the company’s data-networking and Internet businesses, and also managed relationships with key analysts, including those at Forrester, Gartner, IDC, Yankee Group and Jupiter.
Mr. Story earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism from Baylor University and conducted his graduate studies in journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He lives in Genesee with his wife and young daughter.
